Management Blog

The ICCA Management Blog is an area for the management committee members to share their views and thoughts about what's happening at The ICCA.  Committee members will each take it in turns to share their views in a regular blog and give you a chance to get to know them better.

We welcome your thoughts on the topics discussed here together with any suggestions for future developments.  You can contact us using the
feedback forms here.

This quarter, we hear from Dilip Desai.

Dilip's Blog

Welcome to the next management blog.  To introduce myself, I am the new Chair of The ICCA Management Board, a group of seventeen volunteers all living in Nottinghamshire and all willing to take our community forward.  Our services are provided either from the centre itself - our ‘Building for the Future’, from within the community or from other sporting facilities.  Our current Board is a good mix of new members with a sprinkling of some who are continuing on as well – including myself.  My heartfelt thanks to all those Board members who made way for new faces to take their place around The ICCA table.  Obviously, most of the retiring Board members have already agreed to help and assist with a smooth hand over and ongoing support.

I am immensely proud of what has been achieved by all those who have served the community over the years.  It is very satisfying when members and visitors to The ICCA building express their surprise at the fantastic centre and quality of services available.  The real pride, when they learn that it is the community that owns and manages our building, is there for all to see.

After the first meeting of the new board in June ’09, we have begun planning for the future and will work on a number of pressing priorities that will further strengthen our product offering.  One of our priorities is the further development of the Dosti members club – a resource that was particularly utilised by many over the ICC 2020 cricket season.  Despite its teething troubles, our club opened its doors and screened various England and India matches and along with the fours and sixes, we had refreshments and food on offer – all in plentiful supply.  The Board hopes to build on this early success and open Dosti on a more regular basis and is currently looking at ways to best deliver this.

Another priority is the development of the conference and banqueting facility.  In order to financially sustain this centre for future generations, we have to grow this area of business and expand into other markets.  I am pleased to report that we have already held several commercial conferences here at the centre and plan to increase revenue from this work.  Initial feedback from recent events has been positive however there is room for development.

As you may have read in our latest newsletter, distributed earlier this year, our services have also been recognised for good work.  We are very proud of Amardeep Bhattal and the Day Care service team at The ICCA, who have been awarded the Gold Star Award for ‘Best Community Quality Provision and Services to the Local Community’.

Our younger sporting stars, and in particular The ICCA cricketers go from strength to strength.  On top of the individual and team achievements, we now have access to our own cricket ground.  We have signed a lease with The University of Nottingham for the provision of a high quality, multi purpose cricket field.  The cricketers now have a ‘home’ and can enter the cricket leagues and play hosts to visiting teams.

For information on other activities, keep a look out for our next newsletter due out soon.  Please do continue to browse our website or join our mailing list to receive information about future events and activities taking place at the centre.
